Condition of the vehicle

When we look at the exterior of this vehicle, we can notice the presence of a slight rust spot under the trunk lock as well as some visible damage on the driver's side window post, as we can see on the pictures. The edges of the doors are slightly scratched. One thing to take into account as well, the paint on the driver side mirror is worn. Apart from these elements, the body is in a nice original condition, with no pronounced scratches or impacts. The paint doesn't flake off and keeps most of its original shine. The rims are also in very good condition, with a few minor scratches. As for the soft top, it is brand new and shows no imperfections or tears.

Despite the minor damage to the body and driver's side window post, this vehicle is in overall satisfactory condition with a new soft top and well maintained interior.

Upon entering the interior of the vehicle, it is noticeable that it is in good condition with no abnormal wear. The seats, although worn, are not torn, and covers have been installed to protect them and keep them in good condition. The door panels are also in very good condition, despite the fact that the leathers appear dirty in the photos. The dashboard and all other plastic parts of the interior are in very good condition, with no signs of wear or damage. The buttons and controls work properly, and the interior is clean and well maintained. In addition, it should be noted that the floor carpeting as well as the rugs are worn, but mostly dirty. While their condition is not ideal, it should be noted that this can easily be remedied with a professional cleaning or replacement.

Regarding the mechanical condition, this TR7 has always been well maintained by its owner since its acquisition. Everything works properly except for the above mentioned points. The underside of the vehicle is clean, without any trace of leakage or pronounced rust, this is clearly visible on the pictures.

This vehicle is in good general condition, with a body in good condition, a new hood and a well maintained mechanics. The interior shows some minor signs of wear, especially on the seats, carpet and rugs, but is overall clean and well maintained.

History of the model

Triumph introduced the TR7 in 1975 under the slogan "Shape of Things to Come". It replaced the TR6 and was presented in Florida, USA.

The history of the British car industry has been marked by crises, atypical models and the domination of the sprawling British Leyland group in the 1970s. To get out of the crisis, the group launched new models, including the sporty Triumph TR7.

This crisis was mainly related to the strategy of British Leyland, which acquired many nationalized British brands, such as Alvis, Austin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Morris, MG, Rover, Triumph and Wolseley. However, rather than rationalizing these subsidiaries, they all continued to compete with each other in the marketplace, resulting in consumer confusion and missed economies of scale.

Faced with this crisis, British Leyland reorganized by merging the Austin and Morris brands, eliminating Wolseley and focusing each manufacturer on a specific customer base. Triumph was asked to design a sports car that was radically different from what it had done before. Thus was born the Triumph TR7, a car with very modern lines, sharp features and retractable lights.

The design of the TR7 was different from Triumph's previous cars, with a monocoque body, plastic instead of woodwork and no chrome. Introduced in 1975, the TR7 was a strict two-seat coupe, which confounded the brand's purists. In addition, the car was not available on the European market until a year and a half after its launch in the United States.

The TR7 was equipped with a two-liter inline four-cylinder engine with two SU carburetors and a four-speed transmission, which offered interesting performance. However, it struggled to find its audience, with sales targets rarely being met. Sportier versions were launched, notably the TR7 V8 with 135hp in 1977, or the Sprint series from 1978 with 128hp.

Finally, in 1979, Triumph released a roadster version, designed by the Italian Michelotti, which met a greater success with the usual customers of the brand.
