History of the model

The successor to the 964, the 911 993 series was launched on November 9, 1993. The marketing department obviously did not choose this date at random (9/11/1993).

Launched in 1995, the 993 is the last generation powered by an air-cooled flat-6 and the first Turbo to feature all-wheel drive. The 993 Turbo is also the first twin-turbo engine, with a displacement of 3.6 liters.

Designed by Tony Chapelier, it incorporates many of the technologies developed for the very exclusive 959 Group B, of which just over 200 were produced. Porsche stopped production of the 993 Turbo in 1998.

For many Porsche enthusiasts, this 993 series remains the last "true" 911, combining the inimitable design of the 911 with its famous air-cooled flat six engine.
