The car is in very good condition inside and out, it has been driven every day in good weather for a few years by its current owner who has been taking care of it since its acquisition in 2016.

This model comes from the Firemen of Ecoyeux (17), the current owner, having bought it with all the firemen's equipment, has done the work to put back the original vehicle in order to appraise it. It is a model of 1957, it is one of the first examples released, it is one of the few trucks that escaped the slow and inevitable destruction worn by artisans.
It was used by the firemen of Ecoyeux (17) in France, it has therefore, in spare parts but fully functional, all the accessories of the firemen (flashing light, two tones etc..)
Some figures :
Many spare parts are sold with the vehicle, all the parts are to be found in the photos (mechanical section).
The U8 pick-up (or tarpaulin truck) was launched in the autumn of 1956, one year after the launch of the saloon. It has the same front end as the 403 Saloon but with the 2.10 m long platform of the 203, offering a useful volume of 4.80 m3 under the tarpaulin and 850 kg of payload. The fuel filler flap is not located on the rear lights as for the saloon but on the passenger door. This pick-up was then fitted with a 4-cylinder petrol engine, later, in 1959, it was also available with a diesel engine. At that time the van was sold as a utility vehicle and the main customers were workers and farmers, they bought the pick-up version like we buy a Partner today!
The covered van would eventually give way to the 404 pick-up in the summer of 1967.
For the record, the metal platform created for the 203 pick-up would be used for the 403 and 404 pick-ups before being replaced by the 504.
