History of the model

Specialized in motorcycles since 1947, Honda also turned to the automobile in 1960, with a commitment to automobile competition, notably in Formula 1, without achieving any real success.

In 1966, Honda presents in France the S800 declined in coupe and convertible versions, directly derived from the S500 and S600 already known in Japan.

This coupe version evokes a Mini Jaguar Type E (the shapes, the bump on the hood). This one is also called "the little Ferrari" by journalists during its presentation to the press in 1966.

Nicknamed "la Puce", its sporty engine had an exceptional output which offered performances similar to those of a 1300-1500 cc engine allowing it to compete with the R8 Gordini.

Only 11,500 examples were made.

For the comic book fans, it was the car of Spirou drawn by Franquin
