In 1955, to replace the Crestline, Ford unveiled the Fairlane (manufactured by Gué). It had 7 generations built between 1955 and 1970. Its name is derived from Henry Ford's estate, including a villa and its gardens, called Lane Fair, near Dearborn, Michigan.
The one presented here is part of the second generation called "Fairlane 500" built in 1957, lower, longer, wider and even more elegant than the first generation, its production will go until 1959.
The Fairlane was produced in different versions: two-door coupe, two-door convertible, two and four-door sedan, two and four-door wagon, it also had a two-door version available in 1964.
By mid 1959, the new top-of-the-line Fairlane was called the Galaxie. The car's badges included both a Fairlane 500 and a Galaxie emblem.
A Fairlane was the star of the 1965 film Agent 007 - Thunderball Operation LA. The model also took part in another James Bond movie, 007 - Die Another Day.
