We are offering for sale this Citroën Traction 11 B in a beautiful midnight blue and light blue colour combination. An icon of French motoring, it has been appraised as a veteran in 2022. The car starts right up and is ready to take its new owner on the road. Some cosmetic work needs to be carried out on the vehicle, and this is the ideal opportunity to acquire a Citroën Traction at an attractive price, perfect for driving and tinkering at the weekend.
Having been in the same enthusiast family for 8 years, this Citroën Traction has benefited from various works over the years, with a final service carried out two years ago to prepare it for the Veteran survey. The light blue paintwork was carried out a few years ago by its current owner.
The exterior bodywork is nice overall despite the defects present. The paintwork is cracked in some places, and some of the joints need replacing. Inside, the upholstery is stained, and light rust stains are visible on the doors. The interior carpets need attention. The roof lining is in good condition. One thing to note is that the underside of the vehicle has no rust holes. The car has no leaks or overheating, although a cooling hose above the engine needs attention.

Before being renamed the "Traction Avant", it was originally called the "7 CV". Thanks to this new concept, André Citroën surprised the motoring world by presenting his latest creation on 18 April 1934. Designed by Flaminio Bertoni, who was also responsible for the 2 CV, Ami 6 and DS, this new model was both technically daring and modern: front-wheel drive, no chassis, hydraulic brakes on all four wheels, etc. André Citroën dared to create a car from scratch like no other in the world, and to manufacture it he dared to increase the size of what was the largest car factory in Europe.
It was just after the end of the First World War and in the midst of a crisis following the stock market crash of 1929 that Citroën, in financial difficulties, launched the manufacture of a "solution-rich" car at an affordable price by transforming its munitions factory to mass-produce the famous "7". This car was in turn the car of the Gestapo, but it was also the icon of the Resistance, and later became the preferred vehicle of gangsters because of its exceptional road qualities for its time.
By all accounts, the Traction really became reliable and mature from the 1936 models onwards. However, the initial setbacks were to prove too much for the Citroën company, which went bankrupt and was taken over by the Michelin family.
Anecdotally, it was the Traction that launched the long tradition of the French "official presidential car". The first models were easily recognisable thanks to their moleskin roofs rather than their sheet metal ones. The Traction took part in and even won a number of rallies.
Production ended in 1957, after some 760,000 examples had been made, to be replaced by the 2CV.
