An authentic representative of English convertibles, with its 1800 cm3 engine developing around 95 hp, its power is enough to take you anywhere! The MG MGB is one of the brand's greatest success stories, and the model on sale today is a Phase 1 (1962-1974), the most popular version with original chrome bumpers. With the exception of the steering wheel, this MGB is entirely original. Its battery, originally a 2 x 6V, is now a 12V.
This car has a rare feature: it's been with the same owner since 1986! The car has always been maintained by its current owner, who holds a restoration and follow-up file. It's not in perfect cosmetic condition, but starts right up without any mechanical problems.
This MGB was acquired in Geneva in 1986. Always well maintained, it benefits from a detailed invoice history. Originally green, it was painted blue, then red by the current owner when he acquired it in 1986. The car was extensively restored at the time of purchase, including new fenders, rocker panels, front suspension and leather seats.
When purchased in 1986, this MGB underwent extensive work:
The last major overhaul was two years ago, and the vehicle has been driven very little since.
Externally, it's in pristine condition, and despite a few signs of wear here and there, it retains its charm. The fenders, rocker panels and chromes are in good condition following the work carried out. Inside, the seats, replaced some ten years ago, are as good as new. The dashboard and controls are functional, and the steering wheel has been replaced by a more recent model. Mechanically, the engine runs perfectly and the gearbox is smooth. The chassis is sound and shows no signs of major corrosion. The only work to be carried out on the vehicle is on the soft top, which is worn but still watertight (estimate and work on request).
Competing with English roadsters, and Triumph TRs in particular, the MG A and MG B were for a long time the best-selling convertibles in the world, before being dethroned by Mazda (MX-5).
Often represented as the archetypal English roadster, the MG B was produced from 1962 to 1980 in four successive versions: MK1, MK2, MK3 and MK4. Originally produced only as a roadster, it was also produced from 1965 onwards as a coupé, known as a “GT”. The MG B was the brand's greatest commercial success, selling around 350,000 roadsters and 150,000 coupes.
