History :

Let's talk about the history of this Jeep. About 4 years ago, it was acquired by a military vehicle enthusiast in Rossinière, when it was just a "rolling chassis". Over the next two years, extensive work was carried out during the health crisis. Today, this Jeep has just been restored and driven around, and is in excellent condition.

The engine, axle and gearbox are all original and in perfect working order. Almost the entire vehicle has been carefully restored or replaced. The owner has used new parts from military stocks to give this Jeep all its authenticity.

Work carried out :

Before the survey was done :

  • Checking the axles
  • Gearbox oil replacement
  • Full service
  • Belt changed
  • Carburettor replaced
  • Dynamo replaced
  • New fuel pump too

A veteran survey was carried out on 09.06.2022.

A working gearbox is available with the vehicle. Spare parts are also sold with the vehicle, these are located in a box at the rear of the Jeep.

The blue-painted engine blocks, like this one, appear to have been marked with this colour when they were overhauled by the army.

An ideal companion for Sunday outings, it drives very well and will take you anywhere. Its immaculate condition and recent restoration give you peace of mind, knowing you have a reliable vehicle ready for adventure.

Vehicle condition :

Not much to say about the condition of the vehicle knowing that it has been carefully restored from A to Z.

The exterior bodywork shows no marks or impacts, the only slight drawback being the wooden wedges that have been fitted to prevent damage when the bonnet is opened, but these can be removed. The paintwork has recently been done and remains in superb condition, with no air bubbles. The bonnet is brand new.

As for the interior, the steering wheel shows minor signs of wear. All the seats are new and in very good condition. The dashboard has been repainted.

The engine has been serviced. There are no traces of rust on the top of the vehicle, and all mechanical parts have been replaced or overhauled.

The photos speak for themselves, this is a completely refurbished vehicle, nothing is to be expected.

History of the model

The Jeep Willys is a vehicle steeped in history!

It all began in 1940, when the American army was looking for a light vehicle to facilitate the mobility of its soldiers. Several companies, including American Bantam Car Company, Willys and Ford, set about developing prototypes. In October 1941, Willys won the contract thanks to its more powerful engine (60 bhp Go Devil) compared with the 40 bhp Ford engine. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the US Army decided to obtain vehicles from a second manufacturer, and it was the Ford model, known as the GPW, that was selected.

The car was quickly nicknamed Jeep, with various origins for the name. It was deployed in all the theatres of operations during the Second World War, shipped as a kit in wooden crates, which made it easy to assemble on the spot. Soldiers got to know the Jeep by heart, and it was also easy to repair on the battlefield. In the early days of its use, accidents occurred because of the vehicle's unusual lightness and manoeuvrability for the military. Around 650,000 Jeeps were assembled during the war by Willys and Ford.

The Jeep was a versatile vehicle, used as an ambulance to transport the wounded, as a combat vehicle when fitted with a machine gun, and even as a command vehicle or flag bearer. In France, it is best known for its emblematic role during the D-Day landings and the liberation of Paris.
