When Lionel Martin won the Aston Clinton Hillclimb in 1913, he combined the two names into a brand that became world famous. In 1947, David Brown bought Aston Martin and decided to add his own personal touch by building the famous Lagonda engines, the legendary "DB" engines that would become Aston Martin's sporting hall of fame.

Now let's talk about the V8 Vantage, first seen in the form of the AMV8 Vantage concept car at the 2003 Detroit Motor Show, the new 'baby Aston' as it was dubbed. It made its official appearance at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show and went on sale in late summer 2005,

In order to deliver a flawless product, 78 prototypes were painstakingly tested over 1.5 million miles. From Dubai at 48 degrees Celsius to Sweden at -30 degrees Celsius, from the Nardo speedway in Italy to Germany's Nurburgring's Nordschleife, no stone was left unturned when Aston Martin took over the name of its first model in 1977.

The V8 Vantage was designed by Danish designer Henrik Fisker and is probably the most successful car ever built for the British brand. This young designer was not however a beginner when he arrived at Aston, he was indeed working at the concept car department of BMW (BMW Technik) from 1989 to 1999, where he realized notably the Z07 concept which will become the Z8.
